Anti-Flu Measures that Really Work, Without Dangerous Side Effects

By Dr. Mercola

I think it’s worth reminding you that, typically, influenza is not a deadly disease. Dying as a result of the flu virus is extremely rare. Typically, the condition will improve after two to three days of bed rest, although some symptoms may persist for about a week.

The vast majority of so-called “flu deaths” are in fact due to bacterial pneumonia – a potential complication of the flu if your immune system is too weak. Other complications can include ear- or sinus infections, dehydration, and worsening of chronic health conditions.

The elderly and people with other pre existing medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease, are at higher risk of developing pneumonia after a bout of the flu.

However, and this is important, the conventional treatment for bacterial pneumonia is an antibiotic, so taking a flu vaccine to prevent death from pneumonia doesn’t really make sense. And as you just read, study after study bears out the validity of this common-sense assertion.

Imagine that!

If health officials were really interested in adhering to evidence-based medicine, then they would start taking vitamin D very seriously, because based on the current research, it appears the flu may be little more than a symptom of vitamin D deficiency.

Considering how widespread vitamin D deficiency is, it’s no wonder the flu is such a constant.

During flu seasons, vitamin D levels in your blood are typically at their lowest point due to lack of exposure to sunshine.

How vitamin D deficiency can cause the flu becomes easy to understand once you realize that the vitamin D formed when your skin is exposed to sunlight regulates the expression of more about 3,000 genes throughout your body, including ones that influence your immune system to attack and destroy bacteria and viruses.

Hence, being overwhelmed by the “flu bug” could signal that your vitamin D levels are too low, allowing the flu virus to overtake your immune system. I’ve previously listed several studies that show the correlation between low vitamin D levels and increased risk of contracting colds, flu’s and other respiratory infections.

How to Prevent the Flu without Getting a Flu Shot

For most people the flu shot will not protect you against coming down with the flu. And it certainly does not protect you against dying from pneumonia should you get ill. Instead, it does just the opposite and weakens your immune system, which could spell serious trouble, especially if your vitamin D levels are also low.

So why not focus on wholly beneficial strategies to prevent the flu rather than taking your chances with potentially dangerous side effects from a vaccine?

Flu prevention is actually quite simple, and I strongly believe it begins with optimizing your vitamin D levels, and maintaining those healthy levels year-round.

If you follow a healthy lifestyle, you will not have to worry about getting the flu. Take it from me — I’ve never received a flu shot, and I haven’t missed a day of work due to illness in over 20 years.

The key steps that I follow to stay flu-free include:

MORE Proof Flu Shots Don’t Work

A new Canadian-led study concludes that immunizing nursing-home workers does nothing to cut the number of confirmed influenza cases among the homes’ elderly residents.

Coming at the end of the largest flu-vaccination campaign in Canadian history, the review of previous studies calls for stepped-up research into alternative, lower-tech ways to combat the virus, such as improved hand washing.

The new paper’s co-author is Dr. Tom Jefferson, a British epidemiologist who heads vaccine research for the respected Cochrane Collaboration — and who has earned a reputation as a scientific dissident for his outspoken criticism of flu vaccination.

In media interviews last year, Dr. Jefferson was quoted as saying he “can’t see any reason” for vaccinating anyone against flu — arguing the shots did nothing to save lives — and that most influenza-vaccine studies are “rubbish.”

Dr. Mercola’s Comments:

Last year was probably one of the largest flu vaccination campaigns ever, not only in Canada but across the world. And as so many other studies, this latest meta-analysis by the respected Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews also concludes that it may have been in vain. Read the rest of this entry »

Argentinian Couple Shoot Kids, Kill Themselves Over Global Warming

A seven month old baby has miraculously survived being shot after the parents killed themselves and their two year old son, citing fears over a lack of government action on global warming.

Francisco Lotero, 56, and Miriam Coletti, 23, are said to have shot their young son in the back, killing the toddler instantly.

Neighbors called the police, after complaining of a stench coming from the house.

Police broke into the property and discovered the horrific scene three days after the shooting, the Latin American Herald reported Saturday.

Still alive, but covered in blood, the baby was rushed to the hospital where it was revealed that the bullet from her father’s handgun had somehow missed all the child’s vital organs, lodging itself in her chest.

In a suicide note, reportedly discovered by police, the couple cited their extreme fears over the effects of global warming.

The couple were said to have expressed anger at the government in the letter for not doing more to avert a worldwide environmental crisis.

The baby is now under observation in a hospital in the town of Goya in the north of Argentina.

Doctors have told the media that the child is out of danger and should make a good recovery.

The tragic story is clearly an isolated incident, yet it highlights the fear with which some people are receiving the constant drumbeat about anthropogenic global warming.

Clearly this couple were either already very much deranged or were so terrified that they ended their own lives believing that they were contributing to the destruction of the planet.

It is not surprising to hear of an incident like this, particularly in the face the  concerted agenda to link global climate change with overconsumption and overpopulation, offering up depopulation policies as a possible solution.

Linking environmental policy to agendas opens the door to eugenics and it is no surprise that through that door have come pouring hordes of elitist filth just begging to be on the front line of the extermination policy.

One example is UK-based public policy group The Optimum Population Trust (OPT), which has launched a new initiative urging wealthy members of the developed world to participate in carbon offsets that fund programs for curbing the population of developing nations.

In 2007, the group also published a report announcing that children are ‘bad for planet and ‘having large families should be frowned upon as an environmental misdemeanor in the same way as frequent long-haul flights, driving a big car and failing to reuse plastic bags.

The same talking point has been re-iterated again and again by public policy groups and environmentalists, as well as the most influential scientists in the US government.

While you may think ideas of sterilization and depopulation could never be accepted by the public, those very concepts are now being embraced and popularized by some as the way forward for humanity.

Last December’s Copenhagen Summit even heard suggestions from Chinese delegates for a global population control program to tackle global warming.

Alex Jones’ Films Endgame and Fall Of The Republic address the hijacking of the environmental movement in more detail.

A Shreveport girl is battling a rare disease.

In December 5 year old Hannah Pham started complaining her leg was numb. When her parents took her to the hospital doctors diagnosed her with Tranverse Myelitis. It’s a disease doctors say infects about 1 in a million people.

Experts say the disease is a neurological disorder which typically follows a virus.

Hannah got an swine flu shot in early December. The Pham family is worried that’s what caused the illness, but the CDC hasn’t reported any cases of Tranverse Myelitis following swine flu shots.
Hannah has been hospitalized for five weeks, meanwhile her family is praying for her recovery.

Employess at Spa Concepts where Hannah’s parents work are collecting donations and raffeling off spa treatments to help the family pay medical costs. They also set up an account at Capital One. If you would like to help out the account number is 573-240-4947.
